We see Jesus. Taproot Church believes Jesus Christ is the answer to everything, everywhere, for all peoples. All of humanity's woes are a direct result of our sin. Jesus is the answer to our sin. He lived the life that we could not live as our perfect representative before God the Father. He died the death we should have as our punished substitute so that we need not fear God's abandonment or anger. He rose from the dead as our conquering victor, assuring us that we too one day will rise from our own graves to live with Him in His kingdom for all eternity. Jesus is our vision.
TAPROOT MAKES DISCIPLES THROUGH 3 INTERTWINED MEANS OF GATHERING
Sunday Gathering: This is our time for celebrating the resurrection in song, coming under God's word as it is preached, and sharing in communion weekly.
Home Gatherings: These are our smaller families within the greater Taproot family who come together in homes weekly to share a meal, fellowship, study the scriptures more in depth, and live our lives together.
New Gatherings: Healthy communities multiply. We intentionally pray for, train, and send church plant teams to go to new areas and plant new gatherings of God's people for His glory.
Jim grew up in Ellensburg, WA - a small farming and college community in Eastern Washington. He became a believer in Jesus as a UW college student in Seattle when confronted with prophecy about the imminent return of Jesus. He soon joined a great church and began serving and growing. After college he started work at Boeing, met and married his wife Janis. They have three kids that are now mature adults. Jim has been serving in Taproot Church from its earliest beginnings. After 30+ years, Jim is happily married to Janis, thankful Jesus still has him in a great church, and retired from Boeing to continue growing in leadership at Taproot Church. God is faithful.
Dan grew up in a small town in Southern Idaho. He had no connection with any church or exposure to the Bible. When Jesus saved him in 1998 he’d been living a life filled with drunkenness, drugs, and demonism. After salvation, Dan met his wife Alexis, got married, and started teaching the Bible. In 2007, Dan and his family moved to Burien to begin the work that has become Taproot Church. Today, the Bragas have three children, love their community, love their church, and are honored to serve Jesus for His glory.
Darin grew up an hour north of Seattle and became a Christian at age 15 at a winter camp. Having grown up in the church, he saw the need for community-based discipleship and for the last 12 years has served in small group ministry and now helps pastor our Home Gathering leaders at Taproot. Recently he quit his long-time job at UPS to raise support and come on staff with us full-time, while pouring beer at a local bar in Burien on the side. He, his wife of 9 years, Sarah, and their 4 energetic kids love living in Burien and serving with Taproot Church
Taproot Church is proud to serve alongside the hundreds of other churches within the Acts 29 Network. The mission of Acts 29 is to band together churches which, for the sake of Jesus and the gospel, plant new churches and replant dead and dying churches around the world. This work is done in obedience to the great commission (Matt. 28:18-20) with the goal of seeing millions of lives changed by the power of the good news of Jesus Christ.
