An Evangelical Manifesto

I heard about this the other day:

http://www.anevangelicalmanifesto.com/manifesto.php

so I thought I would check it out. It’s 20 pages but it’s worth the read.

In a nutshell it is a definition of an Evangelical Christian. They are quick to point out that it is a definition, and not the definition. You may not like everything that they say, but you do have to admire their effort. I think we all have to realize that we live in a country where, for some people, “Dobson” and “Robertson” are cuss words. Many people doubt the idea that “Evangelical” can ever be a positive term. People point up the instances of “hypocrisy” committed by those in the conservative Christian and political worlds and figure that’s all there is to Evangelicals. These guys are making a good effort to try and challenge the dominant perception that pervades our culture.

The manifesto caused me to examine my political affiliations and my reasons for them. I think that we can all benefit from that kind of examination.
